My Tips on How to Become an Amazing Leader in YOUR Personal and Professional Life
Earlier this month I was asked to give a 5 minute speech describing my top 3 tips on “How to become an amazing Leader in your personal and professional life”.
Ok! That was tough! To sum everything up into just 3 tips? It looked like simplifying my whole career and all my knowledge at the most profound way! And, I did my best… but didn’t make it! I ended up with 5 (not 3!) unbreakable rules of all the amazing leaders I ever known through my life and through history.
So… Here are my 5 Rules you must never forget if you want to become an amazing leader in life & business:
#1 – Learn yourself
Who are you? What are your strengths? What are your opportunities for growth? What do you really want? What are your fears, beliefs, and desires? Who do you want to become and what do you want to achieve? At the end of the day, what is your footprint on this world and how you want to be remembered?
Leadership is a journey that begins from within. Get a coach and expand your own boundaries. Lead yourself first before try to lead and inspire other people.
#2 – Learn your world
If you want to become an amazing leader, accept that it is impossible to know everything and embrace learning. Educate yourself. Read books. Follow other leaders. Enroll in courses and appreciate other people’s strengths and contribution. Invest in your knowledge, skills and experience will become one of the best investments in terms of return in your future. One of the first leaders around the world, Greek philosopher Socrates, used to say, “The only true wisdom is in knowing you know nothing.”
#3 – Add Value to your transactions
Partner with people and add value to your transactions. Give support and you will receive results. Give trust and you will receive accountability. Give your attention and you will receive knowledge. Give boundaries and you will receive respect. Give empathy and you will receive loyalty.
#4 – Build your “Courage muscle”
It takes courage to do the right thing. It takes courage to take a decision when not knowing the outcome. Leaders embrace courage not because they are fearless but because they acknowledge their fears and move forward with them. Great leaders step out of their comfort zone, and they know, that at the end of the day, no matter what the result is, they learned, grow, and added value to the world around them.
#5 – Trust the process
No one can predict the future with certainty. Great leaders, know when they have to do the right thing and they trust the process. It is like the farmer in the field. The farmer plants the seeds, water the field, does the work and trust the process with patience and the knowledge that the harvest will come when the time is right.
